04/11/1999 "Be Transformed By Renewing Your Mind"
- Pastor Howard Hsieh
Rom. 12:2; Eph. 3:21-24
Main point: One of the most important keys in living the new life is to conform
our thinking to the truths of God's Word (Prov. 23:7).
I. The Word of God tells us that adopting false beliefs leads
to sinful action (Rom. 1:18, 25, 28; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 4:17-18)
II. The key then, is to replace false beliefs by God's truths
and then appropriate God's truths into our daily lives (Jn. 8:31-32;
Rom.12:2;Josh. 1:8; Eph. 3:21-24; Col. 3:9-10)
III. 3 False beliefs and God's Truths: (Adapted from Robert
McGee, The Search for Significance. Word, 1998)
|
False belief #1: I must meet certain standards to feel good
about myself
Truth: Because God has declared me righteous in Christ, therefore I am fully
pleasing to the Father (Rom. 5:1; Rom. 3:21-22) |
|
False belief #2: I must be approved by certain others to feel
good about myself
Truth: Because Christ has reconciled me to God, I am totally accepted by
God (Rom. 5:10-11; 2 Cor. 5:18-19) |
|
False belief #3: I am what I am; I cannot change
Truth: Because I am a new creation in Christ, I can put on the new nature
and live a holy life (2 Cor. 5:17; Col. 3:9-10; Eph. 3:21-24)
|
IV. The result: We can be able to love God and love our fellow
man, and live a holy life in obedience to God's Word

04/04/1999 "Christ
Is Risen!" - Pastor Howard Hsieh
Lk. 24:1-48
Main Idea: Christ is risen from the dead!
I. The resurrection is the foundational evidence for Christianity.
- (1 Cor. 15:12-19)
II. 3 aspects of Christ's resurrection:
 |
A. His tomb is empty (Lk. 24:1-12; Mt. 28:5-7; Mk.
16:1-8) |
 |
B. His death and resurrection fulfilled the Scriptures (Lk.
24:13-35; 44-41; 1 Cor. 15:3-8) |
 |
C. He rose bodily from the dead (Lk. 24:36-43; Acts
2:31-33) |
III. Why the doctrine of the Resurrection is important for
our lives:
 |
A. It shows us that God exists and validates Christ's claim
to be the Messiah and the Son of God. (Lk. 24:44-48; Rom.1:4)
|
 |
B. It demonstrates Christ's victory over sin, death, and Satan,
and assures us of His Second Coming.
(Heb. 2:14-15; Eph. 1:20-21; Acts 1:11; 2 Thess. 1:6-10)
|
 |
C. It gives us the marvelous hope of the resurrection and
of being united with our loved ones who have died in Christ.
(1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:20-22; Jn. 5:28-29) |

Voluntary going of believers, calling by God.

Involuntary going of believers, scattered.
-
Voluntary coming of unbelievers into the midst of
Christians
-
Involuntary coming of unbelievers - God brought people to
them.
