Introduction:   The true Father-son relationship is missing in our families, our churches, and our society, Eph. 3:14-15
Look at the following passages on being children of God (sons of God), Jn. 1:12; Rom. 8:14-16; 2 Cor. 6:17-7:1; Rev. 19:7-8; 21:7

I. We are sons of the Heavenly Father by the Spirit through adoption
Rom. 8:14-15; cf. Exo. 2:3ff.; Est. 2:5, 7; 2 Sam. 9:1ff.; Psa. 25:4; Isa. 30:21; Jer. 10:23

II. We are sons of the Heavenly Father freed from fear to intimacy by the Holy Spirit
Rom. 8:15; cf. Heb. 2:14-15; 4:15-16; Psa. 119:33-35

III. We are sons of the Heavenly Father through the testimony of the Holy Spirit
Rom. 8:16; cf. 2 Pet. 1:4-10; 1 Jn. 3:18, 24

Numbers chapter 12

Main Point:  You may disagree with your spiritual leaders but beware of speaking against them in a rebellious way.

1.  You will not always agree with the actions of a spiritual leader.  12:1; Rom 3:23

2.  Don't speak against the authority of your spiritual leader for you to speak against the Lord.  12:2-8; Exo 22:28; Rom 13:1-2

3.  Rebellion against spiritual authority incurs the Lord's anger and discipine.  12:9-16; Rom 13:1-2

How to confront a spiritual leader:

  1. Maker your appeal in a respectful way.  1 Tim 5:1-2; Gal 6:1

  2. Make sure you have concrete, verifiable evidence.  1 Tim 5:19-20

  3. Use God's word to speak to your leader.  2 TIm 3:16-17; 2 Sam 12:9-12; 1 Sam 25:23-31

  4. Go through the proper procedure in church discipline.  Matt 18:15-17; 1 Tim19-20

2.  What do we mean by train?  Prov 22:6, 13:24, 19:18; Deut 20:5; Ezra 6:16-17; 1 Cor 4:16

3.  Which way should the child go?  Prov 22:6; Prov 6:23, 9:6, 16:31; John 14:6
